Beyond Sunday: Walking with Jesus in Humility
Catch up: this week’s Sunday morning message.
The pull to climb higher, be the best, have the influence keeps us further from walking with Jesus. If our attention is on these things we will miss the invitation to the table Jesus is preparing for us. Do we have the eyes of Christ to see the lowly, the powerless and the poor?

00:00:01 - 00:02:10
[Music] Hey guys, welcome to Beyond Sunday podcast where we desire to take the conversation deeper. And on this episode, special episode, we have uh Pastor Sherea here with us. How you doing? >> Good. >> Good. Also next to me, I got Pastor Tony uh with ICR and uh so joining us with the conversation. Uh but before we dive into um our discussion and conversation, check out this video. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] All [Music] right. On this episode, we um this is the last uh week of our series of
00:01:32 - 00:02:43
enlarging the circle before we step into um the fall and walking with Jesus and a journey of formation. Um and so uh shred next step you guys were doing pray stations and something a little different than just the typical service music u uh preaching and whatnot. So um and we were um uh we were joining our congregations together. So Pastor Tony um you're pastor of ICR. So do you want to tell everyone ICR is because they they want to know. >> Okay. Yeah. Uh, hi, my name is Tony and um I would like to say thank you for the
00:02:08 - 00:03:05
pastor Deon and well also the church or God. Thanks God in the church. >> Yeah, >> everyone anyway, >> right? >> To let us use a facility here in the community of God. >> And uh we're we're Latinos. I will say Latinos because uh there's no Latinos just Mexican. That's a mistake. Okay. When you say lat you better use Latinos than I say Mexican because we got people from Salvador. >> Yeah. people from Mexico, people born in Honduras >> and uh I think that's it.
00:02:37 - 00:03:36
>> Yeah. >> Yeah. And so ICR meets um at same time in on campus with us um and using the C3 ministry center and worshiping uh 10 at 10:00 a.m. And uh um so yeah. >> Yeah, we do almost everything what you guys do at the same time. 10:00 worship. >> Yeah, we even share coffee. >> Yes, your coffee. Yes. Taking care of my kids, you know. >> Yes, that's true. That's true. >> That's good. Yeah, that's good. Um, so Pastor Tony and I got to team preach on
00:03:06 - 00:04:06
Sunday, which is always, uh, it's always fun. Uh, because, um, Tony's preaching in Spanish. Um, I'm preaching in English. Tony, this last Sunday, you tried to have me translate in the beginning. That was exciting and also terrifying at the same time. So, thank you. >> Great. >> I got a couple. I got a couple. >> Was it good, Tony, or no? Be honest. Yeah. Look at his face. said, "Mm- not good." >> It was great. >> Oh, he's like, "Gabby, help."
00:03:36 - 00:04:45
>> She did. She did help. >> Oh my god. >> Um, but so, uh, what scriptures were we in on Sunday? >> There was a Jeremiah one and it wasn't No, Jeremiah book number one. There was Jeremiah. No. Yeah. Jeremiah was Jeremiah 2. >> Um, there was Psalms also. There was >> Yeah, there was four verse. There was Jeremiah, Sounds, Roberts, and uh ah you forgot Lucas. Lucas. No, but there was Lucas in Acts, right? Yes. Hebrew Hebrews. I'm sorry. Yeah. >> I always get confused with age, the
00:04:10 - 00:05:08
Hebrews and and Actis. >> Yeah. >> And so you mostly was Jeremiah 2 that was leading you in and speaking through. Um and I was like, God's really speaking to me in Luke 14. Um, and so even when we met in preparation for Sunday, it was like, yeah, how are these coming together? And it was like >> Jeremiah 2 talking about um, uh, you know, you're putting other things before God. You're putting you're you put a lot of things before God. Are you where where am I? You have you forgotten me
00:04:40 - 00:05:26
>> who rescued you out of >> Yeah. Because you know, and in Jeremiah, he's he's talking it's like he's he's telling you like like he's telling you what happened to us, >> right? Right? >> It's not just because you're pastor, I'm a pastor, you know, but he's talking about everybody >> because everybody get in the same boat. It's like they were saying, "What I do to you?" >> Right? Have you forgotten >> what I do to you? You what I do to you?
00:05:02 - 00:05:52
It's for everybody. And when uh when God send Jeremiah say what I do to you before when I do so many things for you and your generation, it's like what's going on in here? >> And I like we make you think about it like not because you were the pastors. We doing perfect thing, you know, because sometimes we distract you with something. >> Yeah. >> And you just get >> in the wrong way. Distracted. >> Yeah. Distracted. This is this is one of the things they still get so many
00:05:28 - 00:06:24
things. >> Yeah. >> And know we're not perfect, but Yes. Exactly. This will happen sometimes. >> Yeah. And so in in in connection to for me in Lucas in Lucas >> Lucas in 14 Luke 14 it was like the the introduction to this banquet that we're the the scripture that we were reading doesn't go into the parable of the banquet but that is a part of the story but Jesus is setting it up that he's in a Pharisees home. Um and it's he's seeing the guests come in and taking
00:05:55 - 00:06:56
seats of of a priority and of prominence and of honor. And Jesus is warning them like when you come in as a guest into a home for a banquet or meal, whatever, don't take don't take seats of of of prominence or of of position. Like come in with a a humble spirit, right? Don't forget that that coming in with a humble spirit and really as this lays it out in the parable later on is like um uh coming before God with a humble spirit and he'll be the one to to welcome you. Say come come closer here. Here's this
00:06:26 - 00:07:21
seat closer to me. come take this seat and be welcomed. And also with the host of like who are you welcoming in? Are you welcoming in those who can pay you back or are you welcoming in uh those who can't pay you back? Because your reward for those will be in the resurrection of the righteous will be in when when Jesus comes again or or when when God calls us home. So it was in this like have you forgotten what I've done for you? >> Yeah. Exactly. >> And who I am as your God?
00:06:54 - 00:07:48
>> Yes. And then how do we show up in the in the places that God has uh is inviting us or he's inviting us to bring others along. How are we showing up that space? So you know when they touch you when they say the reward is what we going to receive later on. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> That's right. That is the point. That's another right there is another one more point. They say you will get reward by you doing exactly the way I'm told you to do it. >> Right. within something.
00:07:21 - 00:08:19
>> Yes. Versus getting the back from those who know you can pay us back. >> So, also Gabby, your daughter got to translate. >> That's always a fun experience. And like I said, you tried to have me do it. And >> that was the funny part when you say, "Can you translate what I >> You're bringing bringing a family to church." >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. That was funny. I was like, "Gabby, translate that." She was soon really like what am I gonna do? It
00:07:51 - 00:08:47
>> was a good time. >> Oh, really? Okay. >> So, Sherea, what did Sunday look like for you with the stations? What was the some Yeah, the highlights of that. >> Yeah, it was a different week for us. Um, and this has become kind of a rhythm the last few years at the end of the summer to uh to do just a different kind of service. It's supposed to be outside. It's usually been outside. Um but we woke up to rain, so we had to switch things up uh quickly and so we were uh
00:08:18 - 00:09:25
inside and outside undercover in a couple spots. But um it's become part of part of the rhythm of um yeah closing out this summer with a a space where um instead of somebody speaking at everyone uh like me or whoever from the platform, um there's room for people to just hear from God directly. And so that's been a cool thing and that's what we got to do. Um and so this time um kind of with the idea of the enlarging uh the circle in mind as we were closing out that series um all of the stations in one way or
00:08:52 - 00:09:47
another kind of pointed to those various circles. So in this series we've talked about uh we we started with this idea of like in the center of the circle um is being filled by the spirit and then moving out towards community and hospitality and uh interceding for for the people around us and that kind of thing. And so the stations all reflected different aspects or elements of um even kind of those things we've been talking about. Um and so in one of them um we we did have a lectio station where uh
00:09:20 - 00:10:22
people are just encouraged to read a chunk of scripture through a few times and and it walked them through um just kind of the practice of like inviting God to highlight something in in that. And so I did use the scriptures from the Lectio or from the um RCL for that. Um and so we didn't uh there was no message from the platform but for me in that um when I was in that station for me personally Psalm 81 is the one that um I was spending some time reading through which was from the RCL and uh a little
00:09:51 - 00:10:43
bit with what you're talking about Pastor Tony um it's this idea of like uh it it starts out um I was the Lord your God who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it with good things. So, it's this reminder of like I'm the God who who I already rescued you and I have really good things for you. And then it goes right into like no, my people wouldn't listen. Israel didn't want me around. And it walks through that. Um but then it ends with this um I would feed you
00:10:16 - 00:11:11
with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock. And so those were the things as I read through that a number of times, this reminder that God's like not only um what he's done and how he's rescued, but he's like, I actually have really good things that I'd like to give you. Um and and I I myself like as your Lord, as your God, like I'm a good thing and I'm right here for you. Um and so that's kind of for me that's the thing I think um that's still sitting with me from
00:10:44 - 00:11:36
Sunday in that. >> Yeah. Good. >> And the more you read the scriptures, the more they give it to you and honestly you you more deeper. >> Yeah. >> And get deeper and like wow, man. What >> why don't I say that in there in that moment that time like wow. Oh, well, that's what you can say here. But that's why this conversation is that that often times we're we're preparing for a message and we think uh this is where I think God's leading me and we we line it
00:11:10 - 00:12:12
out. But you're right, there's a residual of after we preach um or we've heard the the message, there's even more that sort of gets um added in or God is like here's another layer. You're like, why didn't I see that prior to Sunday? That layer. That's a pretty good layer. But what I've discovered is like that's layer is actually for me. I needed I needed that that unpacked or I needed that layer that depth um for my own life, not necessarily to preach to my
00:11:40 - 00:12:43
church family. Um but it was for me. >> Yeah. >> And that's the that's the part of this conversation that we like to have every week. um as we not just it's not unpacking Sunday but it's the what is that layer that God unfolded or revealed that uh is has been something for us that we've been able that we in this way we get to share we get to share with each other and yeah with this podcast others who listen um and watch can can hear that as well. >> Yes. Because yeah, there's there's too
00:12:12 - 00:13:11
much there's too much in a in in the scripture to say that in a in in the time that exist a message or a sermon, we could get to it all. >> Yes. And exactly what you say the same thing, you know, what I gave you, what what I've been given to you, what I went through like, wow, my go. Yeah, that's true. That's true. Yeah. >> And what have we done, >> right? >> Not too much. You just feel like you honest with you sometimes you feel embarrassed >> when you're reading the scripture or
00:12:42 - 00:13:30
with those truths you mean? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> I think sometimes you you you feel embarrassed when when God is is talking to you and you just going oh uh oh >> like wait wait wait let me see let me see let me change it. Let me change it. >> Yes. I'm serious man. Like oh my goodness man. That's true. >> Yeah >> that's true. >> Well I'm sorry. Go ahead. Well, it's funny that you say that because um even in the last couple weeks, and I've said
00:13:06 - 00:13:52
this on the podcast, I think the last at least two weeks, one of the things that God's been reminding me is um of his character and his nature. So, what you're talking about, Tony, is super relatable. Those moments where you're like embarrassed because you're like, I should have I should have known better. I should have done better or I've been, you know, whatever. I've I've missed this part. I've walked away. Um but what we see in scripture is that when those moments happen, God's not a god of
00:13:29 - 00:14:16
shame. He's just waiting. He's like, "Welcome back. Here's the good thing I've been waiting to give you." Um, and so even as you're saying that, that feeling that we all probably get of that like, "Here I am again." And God's like, "Yep, that's okay. I'm right here. I'm waiting. Arms are open." Um, so there's something about even and even in Jeremiah in Psalm, the way that God's calling out like, "Yeah, just remember
00:13:52 - 00:15:01
who I am. So if you remember my character and if you remember my nature like who I am um and let that impact or influence your actions, your your responses, that kind of thing. Um yeah, >> this is good. Well, and this this Sunday was um I was excited for this um back early in the summer. Uh I was talking to you and Claudia and I was like we need to we need to get to figure out a Sunday uh where we can bring our con our church families together. Um and and for me, God had just laid this burden on my
00:14:26 - 00:15:31
heart like um it's time it's time to bring the church families together, C3 and ICR, and worship me. You guys are in the same buildings. Um and you're worshiping me, one in Spanish and one in English, and that's great. But I I enjoy these opportunities where we get to bring our church families together, and we get to worship in both Spanish and English. Uh, I mean, so it takes it takes some a little bit more effort to to to add those those pieces in there. But I'll tell you what, the there there
00:15:00 - 00:16:04
is there are there are things in my life that remind me of how big God is. This is one of those things when when we are worshiping God both in in two languages, um bringing our church families together, unified in this kind of way, two congregations, one God, one voice, worshiping the uh and and offering uh praises to a God who's worthy of our of our praise. There there are other things that bring me close, but that's one of those this is one of those times that it's important for me. And when we talk
00:15:32 - 00:16:37
about the tail end of this series of enlarging the circle, this is the way. This is a way that I get to see that happen in in like real time and and applicable like we're living this out. We're we're enlarging the circle of God's family and we're coming together to worship God. You know, you have that I I got that too. Honest, I got that too. And I just I told my wife, you know, there's a couple songs that I know that I can translate and we can put on English, Spanish, Spanish, English. They're so
00:16:03 - 00:17:00
beautiful. And I I bet you honey, I knew that would touch everybody's heart because the way they see, the way they say, oh my goodness, the music, >> you know, in our church, we only have just our voice and the guitar and not tambourine. We got all the instruments in the the storage. Mhm. >> And like, okay, what are we doing? What are we doing? We have everything there. And yeah, but I say, we have everything. Oh my goodness. The guy who was playing the guitar, he was pastor Tony, I want
00:16:33 - 00:17:29
to be one of the guys over there. I said, you know, it's not my business playing the guitar. You have to talk to the de not >> the other de. >> Yeah. I said, oh, I don't know. Well, I don't know. I just say, okay, don't worry. But yeah, I guess a good player. >> But exactly what you're saying. Yeah, that'd be so nice, man. I always always always enjoy enjoy when when we got together but yes um sometimes I get behind because I know you was going and I sometimes I going I just going man
00:17:02 - 00:17:48
>> preaching. >> Yeah I know. >> Yes. And I think keep going keep going is keep going because I see you as going >> that's what God told me. You know it's not like a it's like I'm always say that you know it's like I'm not the kind of person say I you know I go send you to hell. You're going to go to hell. Like I I don't that kind I don't like that kind of person. I don't like it. I'm serious. I don't like that kind of person. But
00:17:24 - 00:18:18
like like when God is telling you, you have to say it. You just just let it go, man. If I get behind, I will get I will get close to you what you say. But just let it go. >> Yeah. >> Because I know God is talking to you right now to say that. And my dad goes, "How do you do that?" I said, "I just to know because I'm preaching." I'm like, "Tony, I know I'm going, but I'm not stopping. Here we going, man." I said, "Keep going. Yeah, but that's true, man. Yeah.
00:17:51 - 00:18:42
>> Good. It's It is a good opportunity and I love when we get to do it. >> I love it, man. >> Thank you for saying yes because it's good to get our church families together. >> And I can say I'll do my best. My daughter should do the best. Daddy, if I Honey, okay, Dad, when you do this, what do you want me to do? You going to do that? Yes, I will go. Okay. You go with me >> and I go with Deon. And what am I going to do? You is next to me. You stay next to me. Honey,
00:18:16 - 00:19:12
>> are you sure? Go. Yeah, honey. Oh, okay. Thank you. >> Yeah, she did. >> We just work, honey. >> But the other piece too, Tony, is that um your your congregation, your church family, that on a daily basis, they're navigating things that um many in my in my church family are not navigating. They're not having to ask the questions. They're not they're not leaving home uh wondering what's going to take place. And so that was the other piece of like we're in the same building and and I I I
00:18:43 - 00:19:45
want to make sure that um there is a a sense of of welcome, a sense of of care and love. Um we may not always know what to say. may not may not always know what to do in the in in the everyday moments that are um fearful or or anxious, but but can we provide a space that we can gather together and worship a God who sees us in those places, those places of anxiety, of fear, of joy and celebration. He sees us in all of those. >> You're going to make me cry, man. >> But he's seen us like, you know,
00:19:15 - 00:20:11
Jeremiah like, don't forget I I rescued you out or song. Don't don't forget who I am as God, your God. And I've I've carried you through and and and there was there was some pieces that resonated for me there of this is true. This is true in scripture when Jeremiah is writing it and when it's written in Psalms. This is true today. >> It's true. >> And there is a banquet and a feast that God is preparing that he's inviting us into. And I do not want to be the one
00:19:43 - 00:20:44
that says, you know, no, I'm busy. I got a church I'm pastoring or I've got this ministry I've got to take care of. I don't when the when the invitation to the the banquet is that comes in this parable Luke 14. I do not want to be found with some il illegitimate excuse or ridiculous like I got something else to plan. I want to be found like yes I'm coming to this to this feast because God you're inviting me. You're inviting me. Exactly. It's inviting you. Yes. There's
00:20:12 - 00:21:19
no any other person. Yeah. Yes. And in that this way like I want to offer that invitation to those around me and you're one of those around me. I want to invite that invitation. >> There's a big banquet table that that God's providing. And in this way when we get to bring our church families together, we get to see just a just a taster, just a taste of what the kingdom of God is like of of heaven and coming together to worship God. >> Yes. So many. Yeah. >> Yeah. So many ideas. Yes.
00:20:46 - 00:21:41
>> That uh that's a little bit in a in a different context, but that's the same idea as um what it felt like it took place here because there's all these generations um in the same place. It was a family service. So, we had the kids um doing the stations as well. And then uh even what you were talking about a minute ago, Devon, about um when you come together in that way, God gets bigger for you. Um the kingdom gets bigger. And it's the same idea like uh in that at one point on Sunday I was
00:21:14 - 00:22:09
walking from one station to the next and and so I passed a couple and I was just like all these people are actively listening for God's voice right now and they may not even realize that that's exactly what they're doing. But these spaces are designed or or uh set up so that they're like that's what they're doing. They're standing or sitting in these places um ask asking God to speak, expecting God to speak, waiting for God to speak. And at the end when we came back in, we uh left space for people to
00:21:42 - 00:22:38
share like did you hear something from God that maybe wasn't just for you but maybe was for the room. And so a couple people shared out and in that moment it was like this has nothing to do with who has pastor in front of their name or who has uh had certain amount of education or whatever. In that moment there, it's like the playing field is leveled and everybody is like, "Hey, you have the equal opportunity to hear from God and kids and adults and um one at one point my youngest uh he's nine, Pastor Tony,
00:22:09 - 00:23:01
and he um one of the stations was like uh you're supposed to spend some time asking God like if if there's uh somebody that comes to mind that God might have a word for you to give them." And so my nine-year-old at the end came up to me with a a card and he said, "Mom, this is the word that God gave me for you." And so, uh, it was just the even the way that he said that, the language that he had. Um, it wasn't like, "Hey, I wrote you a note." Which he does sometimes, but it was like I
00:22:36 - 00:23:31
felt like God gave me this word for you, Mom. And so, in that moment even of just like this is what it is to enlarge the circle. Everybody gets to hear. Everyone gets to hear from God. Um, and it doesn't there's no qualifiers other than just like are you going to listen? And that that's what goes back to the like remember who I am. I'm talking to all of you. I've rescued all of you. I'm for all of you. And I have these good things. Um and so it's just yeah that reminder of like um a God that's for all
00:23:02 - 00:24:17
of us no matter what regardless. >> Yeah. That's sometimes it's well it's really nice when he is uh let you know that uh remember little details that he's doing or else >> little ones. Yeah. little ones in like oh man that's true right it's like when I was uh working at Jala CL >> they go my goodness what am I going to do what am I going to do what am I going to do and honest with you when I when I working I say God I I don't know what to do I got two jobs right here which one I
00:23:41 - 00:24:46
going to choose >> and you know I I close the the good one better leave the doors And I said, "Oh my goodness, what?" And I stuck it right here in Jalas. And when everything, all the struggles started going, I go, "God, I just ask you." >> Yeah. >> But you make the decision. I made the decision when that was not right. I got all the benefits in this one in Centrolia. >> But I I choose to go over there. And four months later, I said, "What is going on in here, man? Oh my goodness."
00:24:13 - 00:25:22
I said, "You know what? only maybe you know >> Barb Barbara Evans she used to come here >> wonderful lady oh my goodness she goes Tony what is in your heart I hope you understand me what is in your heart what you want to do man that's my last day >> and I called I called the supervisor was Marty Jack Marty Jackson Marty just come to church I call him go was what are you doing over there welcome See you Monday. Look, I remember that was Tuesday. But you see, you close one
00:24:48 - 00:25:39
door, but you just did it. You never You say, "I want to take this place." Hey, focus. What you doing? I I never I decided. You decided. I know. You just just go, "Please, God, help me." Okay. Which one might go? Okay. Go that. Okay. Thank you. I said, "Pam." >> Yeah. >> I told you to stay right here. >> And you know, I think that because when I come back, I was crying, man. I said, "God, please forgive me." I said, "I know." And they were like, "Welcome you
00:25:13 - 00:26:10
back, Tony. Welcome." You see? >> Yeah. >> Went over there. They go, "What?" You see little details. I help you right here. I help you right here. >> So many memories. Yeah. I'm sorry. Like I say, I have too much. >> No, but God's God hears you and sees us in those places. >> Yeah. >> Little details that you just, you know, focusing and part of it goes, "What is in your heart to what you want to do?" >> What the? >> Yeah. Yeah. But the God is using you to
00:25:41 - 00:26:33
tell me what to do when I say I want to go back to Centroia. >> Yeah. >> Yes. Yeah. >> It's good. >> Yes. >> Good. Well, as we uh wind this podcast to a close, we're going to share some chyros. Uh so, it's what what is God saying to us and how are we is he inviting us to respond? Um Sh, do you want to go first? You want me to? >> Uh I can go first. I'll go first. >> Okay. Ladies first. >> Okay. Ladies first. >> Oh, thank you for reminding him of his
00:26:07 - 00:27:18
manners. That's nice. It's nice. It's nice to have a gentleman on the podcast. >> Oh my gosh. Got it. >> Um so so I think uh the so I I talked a little bit already, but this idea out of Psalm 81 of um like God is is offering good things, but also God is the good thing. Um and in one of the stations uh that was a breath prayer station. Um the word that I felt like uh was just resonating was this idea of being captivated. And so this idea of like um again when we understand the
00:26:43 - 00:27:49
nature of who God is and that all the reminders like remember what I've done, remember who I am. Um that should captivate it should captivate my attention and my focus. Um and and everything else should pale in comparison. Um, and so I think that's the thing that's sitting with me. Um, is that uh I I want to be captivated by God. Um, and and so then all the other things fall into place, right? Like satisfaction and the abundance that he offers and all of that. Um, that all falls into place when I put him in a
00:27:15 - 00:28:33
space that that uh yeah, it's just captivating. So that's the that's the word. >> Good. How about you, Tony? What's good saying? How does he invite you to respond? Oh brother, for me it's like um once again you know we forgot so many things but not to us all the blessings we receive but I keep thinking and thinking so many things that we have for the other and uh we always focus and u invited somebody that we just trying to how do you use that word trying to make points
00:27:56 - 00:28:54
with that person when they make points with God. >> Yeah. Get get on their favor or in their good good side. >> Come on. Give it to me. Yes. Right there. >> Serious sister. >> Yes. And we can say so many things. But yeah, I think it's the one. >> Yes. >> Yes. That's good. >> It's a lot of them. >> It's good. >> Yeah. Right. There's not one thing. There's many. Um for me, this is the it's the enlarging the circle piece. And
00:28:25 - 00:29:44
um I think even the the word in in this week, the humility piece of how am I uh showing up before God? Certainly, how am I showing up before people? But first priority is how am I showing up before God? Um is it with a prideful attitude like I belong here or is with a humble heart? Um and you know, is it like may that then bleed over or flow over into the people around me? Do I also in those places have a humble a humble heart, a humble spirit? Um uh uh or one of like I belong here, I should be here or you
00:29:05 - 00:30:20
know I've got this place of honor. I don't know. So I I don't it's not it's not really like a coming in prideful is not necessarily a um my go-to. coming in humble more is but in my am I coming to the throne room coming into the presence of God am I remembering what he's done am I conscious and calling out and having offer having gratitude and thanksgiving for even the small things or am I just passing it over waiting for the biggest of things to like oh this was a major thing in my
00:29:43 - 00:30:39
life thank you Lord or am I actually calling out the the smaller things does that help and then in that does that help me come in with a h more of a humble heart of just gratitude for God and who he is and who I am because of him. So that's that's that piece and and again I I do want to reiterate how grateful I am for you saying yes to um you know inviting your congregation to come and worship with us and we get to worship with you that this isn't a one-sided deal like we >> yes
00:30:10 - 00:31:11
>> we get to partner in this. You know, I'm sorry that to interrupt you, man. But that's one of the the little part that I share with the people. Uh they don't show up. I didn't tell you that, man. They don't show up because because they're afraid. >> Yeah. >> To this. I'm sorry for say that stupid things going on. And uh I feel bad because I called the couples and they say, you know, oh gosh, you know, made me cry. They said we keep working and working
00:30:40 - 00:31:41
because um who know what's going to happen. And I said we saving money because we don't know what's going to happen. >> We afraid to go to church and uh because we didn't even know what's going to happen. And I said, "You know what? I told you I I told the congregations, I don't know if you was there when Pastor Deon was if I would like to just to have this right in in the center of the of the church. That way we can we can wrap around them." >> Yeah. Yeah.
00:31:13 - 00:32:27
Bring them into the middle. >> Yeah. Right now. >> Yeah. Make me feel especially with the kids. >> Yeah. especially with the kids because I I don't want to hear my granddaughters to hear that and I just find out that my daughter Gabby, she was crying when we went to Mexico because she told me we're not coming back and what the heck, you know. Yes. But now, sorry, but uh uh I just encourage the church to keep coming, you know. Yeah. >> And uh just I found out Pastor uh Pastor
00:31:50 - 00:32:53
Mark on for Rico. He goes the same thing, you know, all over the place. >> Yeah. >> And I said, sometimes we don't do anything, you know, we just come in here and work like I do. But now to come to church and worship the Lord and know about the Lord. It's like, come on. And I just I just I just share with this couple say, you know what, just keep just think about it. How many little things God has been blessing to you to you and your family, your kids grow up in here, they speak language. Yeah,
00:32:21 - 00:33:26
>> there a little things that you say thanks God >> and I say I want I'm encouraged you just keep saying thanks God because God he will provide more the other >> right >> but yes please >> yes >> don't forget about who is doing to you all this stuff >> all these years he's helping you he's providing for you and your family give you a job give you the car you have give you the truck you have and say think about it yeah is there was there was a sermon.
00:32:53 - 00:33:51
What God is doing to you? Are you afraid of what's going on or what's going on? He go just remember all the little things, >> right? >> Oh yeah, Pastor Tony, but I just just I can say just welcome. I want to see you in the church next Sunday. How about that? >> I will give it a try. And don't give me the try. You see, I will see you in there. How about that? Well, yes. I will I I will do my best. I see. You see, we have time for everything. But just don't be afraid. Yes. Every every morning say,
00:33:23 - 00:34:33
"Thanks, God for this wonderful day. I want to go to church." Bam. And you, I want to go back home. Bam. I want to go take my family to dinner. Bam. Right there, man. Just walking with the Lord. And that's it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So many blessings. but also with I mean you're pastoring um church family and and individuals who that is an everyday navigation for them. And so um yeah, I want to cover you in prayer and like as the Lord leads you in shephering >> these people and your your your church
00:33:58 - 00:35:18
family the things that they're navigating. >> I think some people that deserve that. Some people deserve more than and what they going through right now. >> Yeah. Sorry because they really make roots in here in this country, right? Yeah. But anyway, I just you know Yeah. So guys, >> message Yes. First. >> Yeah. >> I'm sorry. >> That's good. No, this is good stuff. This is how the conversation goes. So, um, uh, we we covet your prayers for for Pastor Tony, for ICR, um, and just the
00:34:37 - 00:35:42
the daily things that, um, Pastor Tony's navigating and and shephering his flock, um, and those that are a part of it. So, um, we want to be covering in prayer and, um, the days and weeks and months ahead. But I, I am so grateful for this. I'm so grateful that your your church family is here on campus in the building. um with us and that we have these opportunities to come together and worship God. >> Thanks for the food, man, by the way. >> Yeah, everything's not bad. >> That's good.
00:35:10 - 00:35:57
>> Well, guys, thanks for uh listening in and we hope and pray that you guys are having these kinds of conversations about what God is leading you in um what you're hearing in the word and uh how it might be um transforming your everyday life as you as you walk with Jesus. So, um we will uh see you next week. Take care. [Music]
