God is about reconciling His people to Him and we want to share and celebrate how we have been invited to partner with Him in His Kingdom work! Every one of us has a unique story to tell. One no one else can tell. Below we have compiled resources to help you tell your Kingdom Stor(ies) in a simple, shareable, and encouraging way. Remember, your story counts! 

We don’t need to wait until our stories are all wrapped up to share! We can be at any point when we share it. Telling stories is a powerful way to share the good news of Jesus with others and encourage fellow believers. 

At CCCOG, we have a few ways that you can share your stor(ies) with us; you can submit a video recording that we will embed here, or you can send us a message. We encourage you to share no matter the place in the journey - you are not alone and you can ask for help in your partnership in God’s Kingdom work!

How to share your story

 

  • Here are some best practices for shooting yourself on your phone.

    Simple, clean backdrops are ideal – Avoid distracting backgrounds or crowed spaces.

    In natural light – Avoid backlighting. The main source of light should be facing you, not behind you.

    In artificial light – Avoid standing directly below an overhead light or anything else that creates hard shadows. Consider using a stand lamp several feet away for good indirect light.

    Shoot eye level – Shooting from above or below will make you seem diminished or imposing. Eye level communicates accessibility.

    Clean your camera – Make sure the lens of your selfie camera is clean before shooting.

    Shoot landscape – Align your phone horizontally.

  • If you have someone available to hold your camera (a camcorder or phone), here are some tips:

    >Film in landscape, not portrait

    >Keep your footage steady.

    >Make your background interesting - Keep it simple. Either go with a solid background, such as a muted color wall or scout a location unique to the story you are trying to tell. Use it to your advantage. If your background is “busy”, make sure it’s part of the story and not just clutter. Check the placement of background items that they are not distracting (garbage cans that are overflowing, signs placed strategically, clocks, etc.). Also make sure the person you are recording does not have weird things coming out of their head (branches, signs, etc.)

    >Lighting is crucial - Natural light is going to give you a more natural and flattering look overall. Stay away from windows or sun directly behind the person you’re recording - otherwise they will get blown out and be backlit.

    >Audio takes your video from good to great - Stay close to your device. You want to be roughly 2-4 feet away from your device for the best audio. If using a lapel/lavalier mic, placement is key.

  • Write out your story before submitting it. Use short sentences and precise words and refine what you want to say. Having a friend or family member proof-read your story and help process it can also be helpful.
